Irish Opinion
(1917-1918)
Introduction
After the defeat of the Easter Rebellion of 1916 and the murder of its leaders, including James Connolly, the Irish left struggled to regroup and keep Connolly’s legacy alive. In 1917 to further these goals, Irish Opinion, “a weekly journal of industrial and political democracy” was launched. It consistently hammered home the lessons of Connolly’s life and work and promoted the revival of Ireland’s labor movement. Toward the end of its brief life the paper added the phrase “The Voice of Labour” to its masthead. In April of 1918 the weekly was reborn under that name.
We present a nearly complete run of Irish Opinion here.
