The Call received the following message from the Bay Area Communist Union greeting the founding of the Communist Party (Marxist-Leninist). We reprint it in full.

Please accept our belated congratulations and greetings on the founding of the Communist Party (Marxist-Leninist). We warmly welcome your formation and wish you ever new successes in the future.
The growth of the October League and the other member organizations of the Organizing Committee, your common success in reaching unity on the basis of Marxism-Leninism-Mao Tsetung Thought, your continuing defense of Chairman Mao’s analysis of the international situation and his revolutionary foreign policy, your support for the Communist Party of China headed by its chairman, Hua Kuo-feng, your appreciation of the struggle against the counterrevolutionary “gang of four,” your solidarity with Marxist-Leninist parties and movements throughout the world, and your dedication to the application of Marxism-Leninism-Mao Tsetung Thought to the struggle of the U.S. people are appreciated and supported by the Bay Area Communist Union.
The founding of the CPML is an important blow to U.S. imperialism, to modern revisionism and to all reaction. Imperialism, revisionism and reaction have hoped beyond hope that they had closed the door for good on the U.S. communist movement when they emasculated the CPUSA. They fear each new advance of our movement and have dreaded each time a new Marxist-Leninist organization has emerged.
So far, no party has proven adequate to the tasks of consistently upholding Marxism while opposing all forms of revisionism, of uniting all Marxist-Leninists and of uniting with the masses while rejecting splittism and wrecking and of remaining open and aboveboard while refraining from wheeling and dealing and engaging in conspiracies.
For this reason, these parties have all fallen into trouble and have grown further isolated. This has, of course, only gladdened the enemies of Marxism.
The CPML today stands out as the largest and best organized organization in the U.S. that upholds Marxism-Leninism-Mao Tsetung Thought and consistently opposes revisionism. It is our fondest hope that the CPML will succeed where others have failed.
We wish that the CPML will live up to its name and prove to be the vanguard of the U.S. working class, the leader of the workers and oppressed nationalities. We are confident that the struggle for ever greater unity of U.S. communists will continue to gain ground and will end only with success. The CPML should play a big role in this struggle as it already has.
The Bay Area Communist Union has always stood for the unity of Marxist-Leninists and has always upheld Marxism-Leninism-Mao Tsetung Thought. We have worked with many other communist organizations in the U.S., including the CPML, and despite our differences, will continue to seek common ground with all of them. Wherever it is possible to unite, we should unite. Above all, we should have the desire to unite. Long Live the Struggle for Marxist-Leninist Unity! Long Live the CPML!
In solidarity and unity,
Dan Harris,
Bay Area Communist Union
