Statement of the Communist Party of Canada (Marxist-Leninist) on the document entitled An Official Document of Friendship, Cooperation and Respect Between the Members of the Guelph News Service and the Communist Party of Canada (Marxist-Leninist) – dated February 12, 1973.
The Communist Party of Canada (Marxist-Leninist) received the document entitled An Official Document of Friendship, Cooperation and Respect Between the Members of the Guelph News Service and the Communist Party of Canada (Marxist-Leninist) from the members of the Guelph New Service. We warmly hail the document and accept it formally as the basis of the relationship between the Guelph News Service and the Communist Party of Canada (Marxist-Leninist). We warmly hail the spirit of “friendship, cooperation and respect” presented in the document by our friends of the Guelph News Service and we publicly declare that we accept the document as the working basis of “friendship, cooperation and respect” between the two organisations. We also applaud the spirit of unity between revolutionaries which is reflected by the Guelph News Service and we consider their attitude to be a positive contribution to the growth and development of unity amongst Marxist-Leninists and the anti-imperialist forces. Now when the trend of unity and solidarity is growing amongst the Marxist-Leninists and the anti-imperialist fighters, we consider Guelph News Service to be making a timely contribution in that direction. We reproduce below their document as our own and we will do everything possible to make sure that the relations between the two organisations are further deepened and broadened on the basis of this document. The text of the document follows:
We, the members of the Guelph News Service, recognise CPC(M-L) to be the leading force in the progressive and revolutionary movement towards a genuinely Marxist-Leninist People’s Republic of Canada. We enthusiastically welcome the establishment, in Guelph, of the headquarters of the Southern Ontario Committee of CPC(M-L) and look forward to further developments in our joint working relationships, through such practical situations as the Guelph Committee for Working Class Rule in Canada.
We extend to the Southern Ontario Committee of CPC(M-L), the same warm feelings of friendship, cooperation and respect which we officially extend to the Party Headquarters of CPC(M-L).
We, at this time, agree, in the spirit of the Five Principles of Proletarian Internationalism, to work whole-heartedly and closely with the Southern Ontario Committee of CPC(M-L) – it being the official representative in our region of CPC(M-L) itself – to:
1. Oppose U.S. imperialism in Canada and throughout the world;
2. Overthrow monopoly capitalism;
3. Resolutely oppose fascism and racism;
4. Smash revisionism;
5. Work for the establishment of a Canadian People’s Congress convened on the basis of majority control, with representation as follows: Working class – 80%; farmers and small business people – 15%; and monopoly capitalists – a maximum of 5%.
We, the members of the Guelph News Service, believe that these points of substance reflect the natural development of the vast majority of the Canadian people and so, enthusiastically join with, and recognise the leadership of, CPC(M-L) in this movement.
The members of the Guelph News Service.
We call upon all the members and supporters and the leading cadres to study this document and use it to establish relations with similar groups in other areas.
LONG LIVE THE GROWING UNITY AMONGST THE GENUINE MARXIST-LENINIST AND THE ANTI-IMPERIALIST FORCES!
LONG LIVE THE SPIRIT OF “FRIENDSHIP, COOPERATION AND RESPECT” BETWEEN THE GUELPH NEWS SERVICE AND THE COMMUNIST PARTY OF CANADA (MARXIST-LENINIST)!
