Communist Party of Canada (Marxist-Leninist)

On Unity of Marxist-Leninists

Statement Released by the First Conference of Unity of BC Marxist-Leninists

The National Executive of the Communist Party of Canada (Marxist-Leninist); the Partisan Organisation and the Chullima Collective called the First Conference of Unity of BC Marxist-Leninists on November 4, 1972. As its first agenda, the Conference received statements from the sponsoring organisations and amidst prolonged applause and revolutionary enthusiasm approved the formal dissolution of the Vancouver Branch of CPC(M-L), the Partisan Organisation and the Chullima Collective.

The Conference proceeded to discuss the general political situation in BC and elsewhere, the question of methods of work and the ideological arming of the masses and other questions concerning Party building and the mass movement. The Conference unanimously and with great revolutionary spirit:

1. Established a 50 member BC Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of Canada (Marxist-Leninist);

2. Nominated the Executive Committee of the BC Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of Canada (Marxist-Leninist), and,

3. Inaugurated a Marxist-Leninist Centre of a new type in Vancouver called the New Marxist-Leninist Centre.

The Conference continued its proceedings on November 5th, discussed in great detail the two lines in organising the workers and women and the question of revolutionary journalism and reached unanimity on all these questions. A large portion of the Conference concerned itself with the development of inner-Party life based on democratic centralism and comrades keenly discussed this issue. On this question also comrades arrived at revolutionary unity after a mutual exchange of views and learning from one another while paying close attention to the views of others.

The Conference closed in the afternoon on November 5,1972, beginning a new phase in the development of revolution in BC and Canada.
