A number of proposals could not be discussed at the conference due to a lack of time. It will be up to the new leadership to reintroduce them in future debates. One of these, proposed by a party member from east-end Montreal and other delegates, also dealt with the future of the party:

* * *

Given that several important aspects of the party no longer exist (absence of unity around a political line, a rejection of the Stalinist and anti-democratic conceptions in the party, the departure of numerous members, etc.)

Given that what basically remains is agreement among a large majority to work for socialist revolution, the emancipation of women and the Quebec nation, this by building a genuine revolutionary party. What also remains is organized links with many workers and the desire of a majority to work for a transformation (this section has been synthesized - Ed.).

Be it proposed that the following resolution be brought to the congress:

1. that we cease among ourselves and publicly to consider the WCP as a political party or a revolutionary political party of the working class

2. that we consider ourselves among ourselves and publicly an organization of revolutionary militants with a minimum and provisional platform and a new democratic functioning (to be decided at the congress)

3. that we understand that a profound transformation cannot be effected simply through debates and a sum-up but through our practical involvement and our transformation with workers (taking into account the minimal basis of unity and the fact that on certain questions like the woman question, national oppression, other movements or organizations are more advanced than us).
