The Marxist-Leninist Communist Party of Belgium (PCMLB) celebrated the 15th anniversary of its founding on Dec. 22, 1978. The PCML of Belgium is the fraternal party of the CPML.
At the anniversary celebrations, the Belgian Party made public its successful merger with another important communist organization, Lutte Communiste (Communist Struggle), marking a significant breakthrough in the struggle to unite Belgium’s Marxist-Leninists.
A special congress will be held in the immediate future in order to further consolidate the unity. The newspapers of the two organizations, Clarte and Lutte Communiste, have also merged and have been replaced by a new central organ of the PCMLB, La Voix Communiste (Communist Voice).
Summing up the unification process in a statement on the merger, the PCMLB noted: “In the course of a long process, during which both of the two organizations showed themselves capable of examining their errors, correcting them, and strengthening and developing their correct positions, the two Marxist-Leninist organizations have understood the necessity of political and ideological unity, which is what enabled them to reach organizational unity.”
The CPML of the United States greeted the PCMLB on its fifteenth anniversary in a message to comrade Fernand Lefebvre, First Secretary of the Party Central Committee. The CPML message stated in part:
“Having fought since the day of its birth against imperialism, social-imperialism and revisionism, the PCMLB has defended Marxism-Leninism-Mao Zedong Thought, and has sought to apply it to the concrete conditions of proletarian revolution in Belgium. It has worked to defend and deepen the unity of the international communist movement.. .to the fight for a socialist Belgium. As well, it has fought for the unification of all the Belgian Marxist-Leninists.
“It relentlessly works to expose the danger of Soviet social-imperialism and its agents, while at the same time firmly fighting against the economic and political hegemonism of U.S. imperialism.”
