First published as a supplement to the June-July 1959 issue of News & Letters. In 1961 a new edition appeared, with a Preface by Peter Cadogan and a new introduction by Raya Dunayevskaya. This new edition was published by the Left Group, Cambridge University Labor Club, England. In 1984 a newer edition, with a new Introduction by Dunayevskaya was published. The pamphlet was translated into Japanese in 1965 and into Farsi in 1983.
