Written: 'The Revolt...' was written as a response to 'Marxist Method and Ideas and the Method and Ideas of Johnson-Forest' by George Novack (William F. Warde) and John G. Wright. 'Marxist Method...' was written as a critique of the Johnson-Forest Tendency document State Capitalism and World Revolution. Warde & Wright's document was the SWP majority response to the JFT. The JFT resigned from the SWP in August 1951 and Dunayevskaya's article was never published, by either the SWP or the JFT
