We started 2024 with US$19,162.70 in the bank, and our end-of-year balance was $19,628.14
In addition, we currently have US$340 in our Paypal account.
INCOME
On the reports below, our income appears larger than it actually was due to a US$1,595.37 refund we received as a resolution to our credit card being charged either fraudulently erroneously on two related occasions early in 2024.
Our actual income amounted to $2,841.66. Most of that was through one-time donations via Paypal, but there were a few donors who set up recurring contributions. The largest single inflow was US$335.95 we received as royalties from Haymarket Books for the work done by Tim and David on the Debs anthology volumes.
SPENDING
Our expenses in 2024 amounted to US$1,937.05 (In the graphs below, they appear higher due to the inclusion of the fraudulent charge incurred in February, and which was subsequently rectified by the bank. The percentages I list below are based on the outflows not including that US$797.69 charge.)
Internet hosting continued to be our greatest expense, directly accounting for 34% of expeditures, for the year. Indirect cost of our hosting arrangement were another 4.6% incurred in bank and foreign transaction fees. Security certificates, DNS backup, and foreign transaction fees accounted for 21% . The running the website accounted for 55% of our expenditures, which is slightly higher than last year but still comparable.
The next largest expense areas were the Post Office box rental (31% of spending) and corporate filings and compliance paperwork (21% of spending). The Post Office Box cost was particularly high because we currently have two post boxes: a new one which we will use going forward, and the old one which will not be renewed but is being kept open during the changeover.

Note that this graph is skewed in the percentages by the inclusion of the fraudulent charge incurred in February.
